Abstract
The aim of this study is to perform a historical reconstruction of the Thomson, Lewis- Langmuir and Bohr models from the perspective of their attempt to explain the periodic system based on the electronic configurations of chemical elements. This study has made it possible to broaden the traditional presentation of these three models, which has allowed to understand how some key concepts of the electronic structure of the different atoms began to be constructed as the first proposals for the theoretical
justification of their periodic properties.
