Abstract
Emerging organic pollutants (EOCs) are a class of pollutants generated by human activity (e.g., agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products). EOCs are released directly into the environment after passing through wastewater treatment plants (not equipped to remove them), posing a serious risk to health and environment. Recently, metal-organic frameworks or MOFs have been proposed as materials for the removal of EOCs. This review describes the different strategies based on MOFs for the efficient removal of these pollutants in water (adsorption and/or (photo)catalysis) and cites some of the most prominent works.
